“Practice makes progress!”
Clare Seidel joined Poly Prep’s Lower School faculty in 2020. She has taught for over 20 years as a yoga teacher, personal trainer, and holistic health counselor and has worked with a variety of age groups ranging from three years old to 94 years young. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Clare has a deep connection to the art of movement. She studied art and dance at the University of Montana, Missoula, graduating with a bachelor’s. She started studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2010 and has achieved a purple belt level to date. Clare found her passion teaching young children life skills, building self-confidence, and finding the good in each being. Clare is working on her master’s in early childhood education at Brooklyn College.
Clare is also a mother to two wonderful teenagers; through them, she started mountain biking and supported their racing by becoming a National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA)-certified mountain bike coach. She also volunteers with Girls Riding Together (GRiT), a NICA-based program that focuses on increasing women’s participation in the sport of mountain biking. With GRiT, she has assisted in running numerous girls-only mountain bike workshops and co-wrote a grant that received funding from the RAPHA Foundation for a week-long mountain bike camp for girls. She is thrilled to be learning and teaching with everyone at Poly!
